Abstract Dot Art Sweater with 3D Dot Paint

Step 1: Place stencil onto sweater
Before you get started on this dot art DIY, wash and dry the sweater that you’ll be using for this project. Do not use fabric softener. Lay the clean sweater flat on your work surface. Outline and cut an abstract squiggle stencil from cardstock. Place the stencil onto the sweater and tape the stencil into place.
Step 2: Apply dot paint along the stencil
Begin painting your dot art rainbow! Start by applying red dot paint, following along the stencil as a guide. For best results, hold the dot paint tube directly vertical with the tip just above the project surface. Gently squeeze the paint until desired sized paint dot is achieved. (Note: paint dots will shrink slightly in size once dry.) Release pressure on paint tube and pull straight upward without tilting.
Step 3: Continue applying dot paint in a rainbow pattern
Repeat with your remaining dot paint colors, moving the stencil as needed. Once you’ve finished applying your dot art designs in every color of the rainbow, allow the paint to dry flat for at least 24 hours.
Step 4: Wear your rainbow dot art sweater
Your abstract dot art sweater is now ready to wear! Fabric can be washed (turned inside out) after 72 hours. This playful rainbow design is a great way to add vibrant 3D color to your wardrobe!
